One of the most common practices within the Chiropractic profession is to evaluate the length of time nerve interference has been existing within a person and also the severity of nerve blockage. Once this is done, the Chiropractor will know how much degeneration (Arthritis) is within the spinal column.
A normal healthy spine will allow all the nerves of the spinal column to exit the spine and let the body function in a strong and healthy way. A person will exhibit a normal curve in the spine, disc spaces will be even, and bones will be smooth and well-defined.
Spinal Degeneration
Phase 1
If someone is in Phase 1 of spinal degeneration, he/she will have a loss of the normal spinal curve and will exhibit disc, joint, muscle, and nerve damage. He/she will also have distorted posture. Phase 1 people will have less energy, their height will be diminished, and health problems will increase. Many people in Phase 1 of spinal degeneration are often under the false perception that their health problems are normal aging.
Phase 2
Phase 2 of spinal degeneration indicates increasing decay, disc narrowing, bone deformation and spinal canal narrowing (stenosis) may occur. These people will have a more common scenario of aches and pains (maybe even daily) as well as frequent fatigue. Their health is becoming a large concern.
Phase 3
Greater postural imbalance, increasing nerve damage, advanced bone deformation, and an increasing inability to have any flexibility signifies Phase 3 of spinal degeneration. These people will have a serious health situation, if they are not getting help from a Chiropractor they will commonly be on a lot of medication and find that they are not capable of participating in healthy activities. Their quality of life is very low.
